Division Manager! We are seeking an individual to lead a team of skilled professional and technical staff in a

While working collaboratively with other McElhanney branches in a strong team environment, the Division
Manager will also be responsible for contributing to branch and regional strategic planning, controlling division

and liaising with clients on project matters.

Manager of Surveys: Service New Brunswick
The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the New Brunswick Coordinate Survey System as provided for in the Surveys Act and establishing the strategic direction for geodetic surveying in the province. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- carrying out the responsibilities of the Director of Surveys under the Surveys Act and providing the strategic vision for the current and future action plan relating to that role
- overseeing the establishment and maintenance of an efficient survey control network
- leading the development of standards, policies and programs for control surveying
- supporting the Land Registry Unit in survey matters under the Condominium Property Act, Boundaries Confirmation Act and related Land Registry Acts
- approving plans under the Air Space Act
- acting as a resource for GNB on issues related to land surveying, property mapping and related geographic data collection
- liaising with federal and provincial departments on topics related to national/provincial survey control networks

Responsibilities
- Communicating with clients, local governments, approving authorities, and First Nations communities
- Determining project scope and scheduling, budget estimating
- Seeing projects through their entire scope, from initial concept to completion
- Managing calculations, drafting, field and office staff
- Advising clients, working within agency agreements, handling confidential information
- Working in urban and remote environments in a variety of weather
- Using conventional instruments, robotic total stations, digital levels, and GNSS equipment
- Working safely and within defined safety protocol
Requirements
- BCLS and CLS commission (or one commission with the strong possibility of the other)
- Experience working in legal and land development surveying
- Strong communication skills and excellent work ethic
- Physically fit, capable of working in rough terrain and all weather
- Professional demeanour when interacting with clients, co-workers, government staff, and members of the public
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract
Assets
- Experience managing and performing surveys on First Nations land
- Experience with subdivision and development approvals
- Experience with Leica conventional, robotic, and GNSS instruments

Challenger Geomatics: Land Surveyor (Project Manager) Sherwood Park, AB
Our Edmonton team is looking to bring on another commissioned land surveyor, either ALS or another Canadian jurisdiction, to manage a wide variety of projects. The Project Manager needs to be up to speed with the latest technology and software including laser scanning equipment and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Proficiency with point clouds and 3D modeling as well as data processing is important to ensure all deliverables meet the highest standards for quality and accuracy.
The successful candidate is expected to complete various duties from estimating and project setup, coordinating field and office teams, checking field returns and plans, budgeting and cost-control, as well as handling all client communications. The Project Manager is expected to build strong working relationships with their clients as well as their team.
The Project Manager will need to be able to perform a wide spectrum of survey work including legal and construction surveys for the commercial construction industry, the energy sector, transportation and industrial projects, and more.
This position will be located out of our office in Sherwood Park, servicing clients in the Edmonton region.
General Responsibilities:
- Meets with clients to discuss project requirements and drafts proposals based on the agreed scope of work
- Develops each project plan and assigns tasks to appropriate field and office staff
- Continuously monitors project progress against budgetary and profit targets, and initiate appropriate changes as required
- Ensures each project is carried out according to the standards set out by the company’s health and safety program; regulatory requirements; professional requirements; and Challenger policy and procedures
- Keeps abreast of technical, professional, or regulatory developments and is able to advise clients in their use
- Provides the information required for the development of proposals, project reports, client invoices and assist in collections on an as-required basis
Qualifications:
- Alberta Land Surveyor Commission; or other Canadian jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 5 years of field and project management experience
- A degree or diploma from a Geomatics Engineering Technology program
- Proficient with UAV and 3D Laser Scanning Equipment and software for data processing, point clouds, and 3D modeling
- Any valid safety certificates are an asset
- UAV / drone pilot license considered an asset
